[orca-list] One question for Unity and Gnome accessibility future

Krishnakant Mane
Dear all,

Now that the accessibility ppa of Luke is down, I don't find a way to
get the unity fixes which work with orca 3.20.3, thus rendering a lot of
unity such as dash useless.

Is there some one who has the deb packages from apt/cache which can be used?

Secondly, There are these issues with gnome regarding wifi connectivity
notification.

Also I can't figure out if the wifi I am trying to connect to is secured
or not.

Is some work going on this bug?

I asked the question about Gnome shell because it is going to be the
future as far as ubuntu is concerned.

However currently unity is very good untill Ubuntu 18.04 LTS arrives,
where I hope Gnome shell will be even more accessible.

As I plan a revamped course on Orca here in Mumbai, I have to be aware
of what's the right decision to take considering future.

Happy hacking.

Krishnakant.

Hi Krishnakant.

Regarding this item:

If you mean when using gnome-control-center, I filed this bug:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=790624

If you mean something else, I need more specific information.

Hello Krishnakant,

Unfortunately I don't find any way to obtain an old Ubuntu package. You
can install Orca 3.22 with the patch but not 3.20. The Ubuntu version of
Orca 3.22 is available here :
https://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/all/gnome-orca/download

Best regards.

Any idea how I can get it?
I have Ubuntu 16.04 installed with orca compiled from source.
Version is 3.20.3.
Happy hacking.

Hi,
That works perfectly + Firefox and Thunderbird are very responsive on my
machine.
Flat review works perfectly in Thunderbird as well.
I would recommend that any one who wishes to use Orca full-time for
their work should have this as ideal setup.
Ubuntu 16.04.3 with orca 3.22.2 from the patched package.
I don't think I am quitting this setup any time soon, at least for a year.
If Gnome accessibility improves further in 18.04 LTS I may think about
it though.
Regards.
Krishnakant.
